questions about the product

What is SpoonfulOne?

SpoonfulOne is a science-inspired daily dietary supplement powder designed to help a child’s immune system get to know and stay accustomed to the foods responsible for 90% of food allergies. SpoonfulOne is based on a patented formula developed by a pediatrician, allergist and mother of five, and is grounded in science. Available as a subscription for consistency and convenience, it’s designed to be part of a daily dietary routine and supports immune balance. Right now, SpoonfulOne comes as a daily food powder mix-in for children as young as six months old. Soon, you’ll be able to find delicious SpoonfulOne products for children of all ages, like cookies, smoothies, snacks and fruit purees—all containing our special protein blend.

What is SpoonfulOne made of?

It's real food. SpoonfulOne is a powder blend of gentle servings of each food protein, less than one gram in total. These proteins include peanuts, milk, eggs, almonds, soy, wheat, shrimp, cashews, hazelnuts, oat, cod, pecans, salmon, sesame, walnuts, and pistachios. These food proteins are combined with Vitamin D in order to promote healthy immune balance.

How did you create SpoonfulOne?

SpoonfulOne was invented at Stanford University’s Sean N. Parker Center for Allergy and Asthma by a pediatrician, allergist and mother of five. It includes micro-servings of proteins from 16 foods that account for 90% of food allergies in children today along with a full daily serving of Vitamin D.

Why should I give my child SpoonfulOne?

SpoonfulOne makes it easier for parents to proactively and consistently include a wide range of potentially allergenic proteins into their child’s diet on a daily basis. Research shows delaying the introduction of potentially allergenic foods may actually increase the risk of food allergies. Instead, introducing a variety of foods into children’s daily diet is key to developing a strong nutritional foundation. Studies show that to have the maximum impact on your child's immune system, it should be taken daily on a consistent, long-term basis.

How do I use SpoonfulOne?

Once a day, simply open up a stick pack, pour the powder into cereal, pureed fruits, mashed vegetables, or whatever foods your child enjoys and mix it up. After that, it’s ready to eat. If the food is heated, we recommend you pour SpoonfulOne in after your food is warm.

Where is SpoonfulOne made?

SpoonfulOne is manufactured responsibly in the United States in accordance with the FDA’s Good Manufacturing Practices for dietary supplements, using quality US and imported ingredients.

When can I introduce my child to SpoonfulOne?

SpoonfulOne can be given to children as young as 4-6 months, or when they start to eat solid foods for the first time. Training your immune system is just like physical exercise. Early is better and most critical, but even starting later (after 6 months) could still have a meaningful impact in setting a healthy foundation.

Is SpoonfulOne FDA regulated?

The FDA regulates dietary supplements and we are fully compliant with all regulations. We take this very seriously and manufacture SpoonfulOne using these FDA regulations called “current Good Manufacturing Practice” (cGMP). These regulations require that manufacturers and suppliers evaluate their products through testing identity, purity, stability, strength and composition. We continuously test our partners to ensure that they follow these guidelines closely, but have also invested in custom, proprietary equipment allowing us to test the active ingredients of our product for adulterants like heavy metals and microbes, pathogens and bacteria, rancidity and other unwanted contaminants. The FDA does not offer formal approval for dietary supplements, the way they do for pharmaceutical products.

My child has been diagnosed with food allergies. Should they take SpoonfulOne?

No. SpoonfulOne should not be taken by a child that has already been diagnosed with food allergies. We recommend consulting your health care practitioner if you have questions or are concerned about existing food allergies.

How often should my child take SpoonfulOne?

In order for SpoonfulOne to have the maximum impact on your child's immune system, it should be taken daily. Simply mix the powder into any foods, stir and consume.

How long should my child take SpoonfulOne?

Scientists don’t yet know how long food allergens should be included in the diet to support and educate the immune system. A landmark study called LEAP shows a five-to-one (80%) reduction in the development of peanut allergy after five years of exposure vs. avoidance. Using these guidelines, we recommend long term, daily dietary diversity for everyone. SpoonfulOne makes it simple to consistently include common food allergens in the diet, so the immune system stays familiar with them. As your child grows, you can include larger servings of the foods contained in SpoonfulOne. Yet we recommend keeping SpoonfulOne in the mix to ensure long-term, consistent diversity.

How should I store SpoonfulOne?

We’ve designed SpoonfulOne to be stored at room temperature, so you can keep it wherever is most convenient for meal time: your kitchen counter, your pantry—or in your child’s diaper bag when you are on the go!

I forgot to give my child their daily serving of SpoonfulOne. What should I do?

Not a problem! Missing a day won’t have an affect on your child. Simply resume giving them a single daily serving of SpoonfulOne the next day—no extra packs required.

What should I do if my child has a reaction to SpoonfulOne?

In the rare case that your child has a reaction to the product, we recommend that you stop giving them SpoonfulOne for the time being and seek medical advice.

If I have more than one child I would like to start on the program, do I sign up for multiple subscriptions?

Yes. Building SpoonfulOne into your children’s daily feeding routine is recommended.

I am breastfeeding my baby as I introduce solid foods. Is there anything I need to know about SpoonfulOne in regards to breastfeeding?

If you are breastfeeding, please continue to do so while incorporating SpoonfulOne daily, into your child’s routine with solid foods. You don’t have to wean your child off breastfeeding to start including SpoonfulOne. Research indicates that breastfeeding alone may not reduce the risk of allergies but should be encouraged and can co-exist with the inclusion of solid foods.

I signed up for a subscription. What’s next?
